Hello to family and friends!
This is Stefene reporting live from Jamaica! We all made it safely, but due to the late flight we were on, we were quite exhausted. We all had a very adventerous time at LAX especially Samantha. When we were going through security they
had to check her bag and make sure that she didn't have any illegal paraphernalia on her bandage. While security was checking her in their little booth, the rest of us were standing 10 feet away snapping pictures. What a team! lol. It was some great bonding time waiting in the airport together and talking about how we couldn't believe that we were going to Jamaica. Once we got to the Jamaican airport we were all hit with the humidity as soon as we stepped off the plane. It actually wasn't that hot (only 78 degrees) because of the fact that it was 6 in the morning and it had been raining. We got through immigration and customs safely and quickly. Our hosts Pastor Dave and Mary picked us up in our bus and we quickly learned that Jamaicans drive on the opposite side of the road and the driver's seat is on the right. Today was a day of rest for us all. We took a very long nap once we came to our new home for the next 21 days. Once we all finally woke from our naps, we were able to enjoy some real Jamaican food. We had some chicken and beef patties with cocoa bread. It was amazingly delicious! So rest assure, we are being fed quite well. Once, lunch was over we headed straight for the beach which is right across the street from where we are staying. We swam in a beautiful little bay where we were amazed to see how clear and beautiful the water was. It was a nice way for us to all cool off, jump off some rocks and attempt to catch some sand crabs. Once we were done at the beach we all headed back to shower and dinner was ready for us. We got to eat some sloppy joes and fellowship with some students from Purdue who are also staying at Fairhaven. After dinner we walked to town to eat some Gelato and get to know the area. As we were walking we were entertained with the sky lighting up every now and then from lightning. We came back and worked on some skits and worship songs that we will be doing for church tomorrow.
Well, we are all getting ready for bed as we are all tired. Please continue to pray for our team that God would continue to prepare us, transform us and use us to further His kingdom. We are very blessed to have a team that gets along so well and we are all here to love and support each other. May God's love and peace reside in your hearts. He is definitely accomplishing His will in each of us and as a group. All Glory to God. We miss you and love you all very much!
By the way, thank you all for your comments. We all sat down tonight and read all of them and were really really encouraged. It brings joy to our hearts and smiles to our faces to read your lovely comments. So please feel free to continue sending us comments because we absolutely love them:)
Talk to you tomorrow!
Love,
Team Jamaica

Woo team Jamaica! Sounds like a great first day and what a precious mothers day sign! Miss you all. Looking forward to reading more of the entries!
We are happy to hear you are safe and had a good first day. I took some of those Team Jamaica trading cards to my church today and passed them out to some of my friends and asked for prayers for you all! Next time you post a blog, ask Sam to write something. He is a journalism minor - tell him this would be good practice! Praise God always in all you do!
Sam - Monday is Ben's birthday - just remember him in prayer tomorrow!
Love, Mom

Jen, this is great stuff and how fun to be with such a great group of kids who share each others ecitement about this experience. Really enjoyed your chronicle of events and can't wait to hear about the culture in the orphanige and how the kids are effected by not having parents.
Gigi had a drug reaction to taking an extra pill of something early today and was really ready to hang it all up.....GOd bless her for having such a great sence of humor while talking about dying being a welcomed event....... I wonder how the Jamacians perceive passing??????
Don't mean to be morbid but you know how the Gi Gi world turns...... can't wait to tune into the next blog....Love Aunt Susan
Hi Stef, Dad and I finally got around to checking our email. We're still figuring out how all this works! Looks like your trip is going well. You are in our prayers daily and you are greatly missed here. Hey, are there more kids there than in our house? lol. Well, bye for now.
Much love and aloha! Mom
