Hello family and friends! This is Katie, happy to bring you another update from Jamaica!

So today is Saturday, which means we will be home in exactly one week! Which is good news for all you parents out there who are missing your children, but bad news for many of our “tans” which we bragged about before leaving home (more on that later). I can’t believe we are already 2/3 of the way done with this trip, time is truly flying. But we still have an exciting week ahead of morning devotions in elementary schools, after school programs, and of course our trip to Negril on Thursday! I know that we are all looking forward to lounging on the beach, playing on water trampolines, and wrapping up all that has happened this trip. Alright, now on to the good stuff.
Our day today started later then usual, I woke up at 9am to find all the other girls already awake and doing productive things, like cleaning or sorting dirty laundry. Today was our “work day” at our current home, Fairhaven, so we were all expecting to get right to work in the morning. However, when we woke up to see the beautiful (but fleeting) sunshine, our wonderful host, Mary, said that we should go to the beach before it rained. And trust me, she didn’t have to tell us twice! As soon as we finished breakfast we all got into our swimsuits and rushed down to the beach. As you may have seen from pictures, the water here is a beautiful

aqua blue and also happens to be just the right temperature. When we got down to “the cove”, our favorite spot to swim, some of us jumped right into the water, while a few stayed on the beach to tan. Eventually, 9 of us made our way into the water and decided to play a game of ultimate Frisbee: boys verses girls. Now you may notice that I said 9 of us, when in-fact, our team has 10 members. This is because Kristin opted out of the game and decided to tan instead (which actually really ended up paying off for her). Anyway, the game ended up being much more intense, and tiring, then anticipated.

Each team even started making up their own touchdown dances (for some reason the boys always “killed” each other in their dances…go figure) and talking a little smack to the other team. Playing in the water proved to be much more fun than on dry land – every one was leaping in every direction to make catches, or block the other teams pass. The boys may have had the height advantage, but us girls had the strategy. It was so fun to get to goof off and play with the team, and watch everyone get into it. I would love to tell you that we silenced the boys trash talking and won….but unfortunately we lost…barely. It was 13-11 to be exact. We are planning a rematch ASAP.
After our game, we headed back to Fairhaven at about noon to start on our work, and do laundry (which trust me, was a huge blessing). We were all assigned different jobs – Stefene and Jen washed windows, Sami, Grace and I

cleaned the kitchen, Lindsey (aka Lynette) and Kristen cleaned and organized a closet, and the boys touched up some painting on the outside of the building. As we were working it started to rain, yet again, and we were all very thankful that we went to the beach in the morningJ. Throughout the afternoon, we all began to notice that out skin was looking a little pinker then usual. It was not long before we were looking at each other and laughing at how red we were. There were only a lucky few who did not get fried today. Now I know that if other parents are like my parents, you are probably shaking your heads at us right now for getting so burnt. But to be fair, we were only out there for about an hour and a half, and it was before noon, so none of us were expecting to get much of a tan, let alone a burn.

We have all been coating ourselves with lotion, and plan on those burns turning into tans very soon. So back to the work day….well basically we did some work. It was cool to get to help Mary out; she does SO much for us without complaint, so I am glad that we got the opportunity to do something for her.
After we all finished our jobs, us girls played a couple intense rounds of Phase 10 before dinner, while the

Sam, Tyler, and Garrett wrote in their journals and relaxed. There was also some time for some of our team to go over the music they will be doing in church tomorrow. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a talented team…seriously…I think I may be the only person who doesn’t have musical skills, haha. Right now, as I sit on the couch, I can hear Tyler playing guitar and Kristin singing in the other room – our worship team always sounds so beautiful.
You may be wondering why I am posting the blog so late tonight, well, I promise, it is not just because I am lazy. After dinner, our leaders sat us down to have our usual team meeting, but tonight they had a surprise for us. They told us to get ready because we were going out to immerse

ourselves in more Jamaican culture…a live music performance and dancing. We were all really surprised and excited to get to go have some fun, and experience something new. The live band was really good – my favorite was when they did a Backstreet Boys song - with a reggae twist. I would have to say that the highlight of the night was the last song that we were there for (Lindsey’s theme song, and apparently Jamaica’s favorite song, because they play it all the time here) “Don’t Matter” by Akon. I think it is safe to say that we all had a really fun time listening to the music, dancing around, and once again getting to do something fun together as a team. When we got home and checked the blog, we were shocked to read the post from the woman who randomly met

Jen’s parents in Starbucks, and now is going to donate to the orphanage we worked at, Blossom Gardens. I can’t even tell you how encouraging that was to hear – it gave many of us the chills to read. We have all been struggling with the fact that we can only do so much – never did I think that our trip would affect people we have never met. God works in such amazing ways, sometimes it just takes my breath away. Thank you so much to all family and friends for your support, encouraging words, and constant comments. Knowing that we have people praying for us at home is such a comfort to us all. Like I mentioned before, tomorrow we are going to church.

Stefene is going to be giving her testimony, the worship team will be going a couple songs, and we will also be leading Sunday school. Please especially lift up Stef and the worship team tomorrow as they participate in a new church service. Much love to everyone – these blog comments really make me want to meet everyone’s parents and friends – you are all so great. One Love.

Mom, Dad, and Kristina – thanks for the comments! I miss you guys, and I’m excited to see you and share my stories! Kristina – how did you and Jenny do in the science fair? I know you guys are mad at me for getting sun burnt – I’m sorry. But I’m doing great besides that, so you don’t need to worry. Love you lots.
Jenise – I miss you so much. I get so happy when I see a new comment from you. I so wish I could call you when funny things happen – there have been so many times that I have wished you were here. I can’t believe you are still in school….muhahaha. See you June 15th. I love you. Ps – tell your sister and Shanae that I really appreciate all their comments…..not.
Malcolm – Sorry I didn’t give you one of these before. You know I love you my little bumpkin. I can’t wait to get home so we can hang out everyday!! Wahoo! Love and miss you.

Linds and Jess – I hope you guys don’t get offended by the joint thing. I think about you both everyday, and you continue to be in my prayers. I can’t even tell you how much I miss you guys. And I’m still tripping out that there are TWO Frannies….what the heck?! Jess, I got your support letter a couple days ago, I loved it, and it made me miss you even more. Thank you so much for doing that. And tell Hefner that if I go 3 weeks with no comment on this from her, she will face serious consequences. You both requested by birthday off of work, riiiight??I love and miss you both so much.

Man, you guys did get burnt...haha. Well, hope it does not hurt too bad! I love the beards...men. Good work team Jamaica! Keep working hard in this last week. I have loved these blogs, they have made me really feel like part of the trip.
Wow, you guys did alot in one day.
It was so nice to see all of you playing and relaxing in the sun. You all have been so faithful and hard working since you got there, you all deserved it. I was so happy you got a little color even if it was pink well maybe a little red then it will turn golden brown:) The waters and the sunsets are just gorgeous..and so are all of you in your pics.
I will be praying for all of you tomorrow for the service.
For the testimonies and open hearts to hear the Word Of God.
Psalm 96 Sing to the Lord a new Song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Sing to the Lord, Bless His name. Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day, Tell of His glory among the nations; His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord and Greatly to be Praised!
And this is what you are all doing, Is Honoring God and Spreading the News.
Bless you and keep you all safe.
Sami, I did it, I now have a new home. I can't wait for you to see it. I moved all day today, then at 8:00 I babysat the little munchkin.
I went to cook me a meal in the microwave and it does not work. So tomorrow they are getting me a new one. I won't get a bed till Monday so I am camping out on the floor tonight. I am so excited that we only have 6 days left. I know you are probably very sad. But as a parent and I am probably speaking for other parents. We want to hear all the details of your trip. and of course hugs and kisses too.
I love you and miss baby girl.
What a busy and fun day; some frisbee, some sun (ok, too much sun for some), some work, and some music to end the day. Tyler, nice to see you on a ladder with a paint brush. It brought back some memories of last summer and I have at least one job lined up for you when you get back as well as some touch-up paint for our house. :) We've been moving mom and Brian this weekend and should have it all wrapped up today. You're missing all the fun (?). Bath project starts in two days and shoud be in complete shambles by the time you get home, and thankfully most of the way done by the time we get back from LV. Ahhh, can't wait to catch up and spend some fun b-day time with you! Miss and love you tons!! PS: Beard (or scruff, lol) gone by LV? Just a subtle hint.... :) :)
At last I get to catch with you guys. Wow, what an amazing trip you all are having. Even a few minutes in the sun can burn, just a reminder, especially reflecting off the water. It is great to hear about the person wanting to support the homes. I have been thinking about the same thing while in LA..how to continue your efforts. I am sure you all will have a lot of friends and family who will want to know what they can do. Get addresses and make a plan for combining those efforts when you get back. We didn't place at the state science fair, however it was a great learning experience for the girls and who even thought they were going to go that far?! I'm very proud of both of them.Kristina is extremely proud of you, Katie for what you are doing. We say a prayer nightly, yes even in LA, for you and the team and she is quite cute when she leads. She always adds that she prays that the children are touched by the Lord and you and keep a little piece of you and the Lord close to their hearts, like she does! We are off to Sunday school soon, so will have to run.I can't wait to see you and hear all about your experiences.I wish you were coming home right away. Birthday without Mom, Dad and Sister, just doesn't feel right! I hope Jess and Lindsey know how lucky they are!!Love you-Keep spreading the Good Word. Mom

Hey Team,
Thanks for another great blog. That was so thoughtful of Mary to give you some time off. What a wonderful woman. I imagine that she must love having a helping hand/hands so thanks for doing chores for her. And to your fearless leaders, that surprise concert was such a great idea. I hope you all come back with a real sense of the Jamaican culture. You are getting a taste of Jamaica that doesn't exist for a typical tourist. Jen, speaking of your laundry chores, Ally learned a great laundry lesson. She started her laundry on Sunday, meaning that she put everything in the washer, and thought she could put it in the dryer on Thursday. When she opened the washer on Thursday she was horrified at the disgusting smell and had to rewash everything. Not funny for her but pretty funny for me. We are having a nice time in the desert although it is not the same without you. I keep my Team Jamica picture next to the computer so that I can pray for each and every one of you. On this day of worship I praise God for his amazing love of all people. Jen, have an inspirational day. You are deep in my heart and soul. I LOVE YOU TONS, mom P.S. Dane Taylor went with us to serve dinner to the marines and he was so taken by the experience that he is starting a ministry at PLC to help the vets. God is so good! I love you Jen Jen!
Hi Team J and Sam! Today sounded like a good day for all of you - some work to help around the house, some sun, some fun, some music - overall, a chance to renew and get refocused. This last week will be something fabulous for all of you, I am sure. God is probably saving the best for the last - so keep your eyes and hearts open and watch for the many gifts from God this week - for you and for those who you encounter. Nothing exciting happening here. Ben is coming home today to have lunch and do a little "dress" clothes shopping - he has a job interview with PBS Television next week. I am doing some gardening and my spring musical is next Friday. Before we know it, you will all be home. Sam, unless we hear otherwise from you, we will take you straight to the house in Glendora, so you can get your car, and you can drive back to our house next week whenever you need to. Hope that makes sense.
Again. we are proud of you all and pray for the team daily. My favorite passage is Psalm 31:15 - My times are in HIS hands. Remember that the time you are spending in Jamaica is time God has set aside for you to do his work. In work or play, He is placing his loving hands on each of you!!! How exciting is that thought!
Come home safe. You are all missed and loved.
Kristin, Looks like your tan is coming along...I hope this last week is awesome...keep having an impact in peoples lives...make this last week count.
Justin called me "Kipper Snacks" at the Groza's house, and I told their Mom about you and Lindsey and that name. She found them within a day...and gave them to me...they look so sick...they're in a tin little can. I'll show them to you when you get here...so sick...
Talk to you in 6 days...:-)
Kip
You are in my prayers...
Hi Jen and TEAM JAMAICA
The photos are so great!whoever is doing them, or many of you? or the camera, they are wonderful!and I love the humor in the comments. Seems like you all have a way of getting along with funny stuff. I see no TV, so perhaps there is none? I wouldn't wait for the sunburn to turn tan, think it will just peel. Ha!! The children you've touched will be locked in your memory. I can't say anything new,so I won't try,but this whole blog has made my day. I'm boring you and myself,so Take Care, Love to All,GG

Katie your musical talents are dj-ing and making the best cds ever! I wish I could have heard their BSB song jamaica style(: Miss you guys! I hope you get this before you write the new one... 6 days!
Glory to God! The most important point in ministering is not what you do, but how well you spread the Word. Clearly, it's spreading! People are catching hold of the vision across the world! We're so proud of you, Team Jamaica!
Love, Grace's Mom.
P.S.
Grace, how's that tan coming along?
Painting?? I was painting today too :) but im sure you all did a better job then I did-I got some paint in spots I was not suppose to-but hey I tried my best. Lol.
I cant believe you are coming home in a week….I’m excited you see you soon, but…feeling like that makes me feel a bit selfish-I know you are doing wonderful work there in Jamaica, I don’t want to take you away from those kids that need your love.
And fyi…that ocean is BEAUTIFUL!!
And another thing…wear sunscreen silly.
And can someone explain what “phase 10” is??
And for your information Garrett…I had a wonderful b-day the other day, the only thing that could have made it better was if you were there too. :)
I love you and miss you!!
And…I gave every member of your family more then just one hug today at church-I mentioned some of the hugs were from you (I followed your orders that you gave on your last blog). And just so you know…their faces just light up when they talk about you and the work you are doing in Jamaica-they kept telling me to check the blog :)
You are loved VERY MUCH by many (including me mister-lol)!!
im praying for you all. have an amazing last week!!
